Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has backed Michy Batshuayi to undergo a speedy recovery after the forward was ruled out for the rest of the season.
Batshuayi joined Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window on a loan deal and was in a rich vein of form for the Bundesliga club. However, he recently sustained ligament damage and will therefore miss the remainder of the 2017/18 campaign.
Conte discussed Batshuayi’s condition during his pre-match press conference on Wednesday ahead of the Blues’ game with Burnley. The Italian manager insisted that the striker can still recover in a short period of time despite seeing his season brought to an abrupt end.

As quoted by Get West London, Conte had this to say about Bashuayi’s injury:
In this moment I have no idea (whether he will make the World Cup). I hope for him to recover from this injury. I had this type of injury when I was a player and it was two months to recover well. But he’s a young and strong player and he can do this recovery in a short time.
Usually when our players are on loan and when there is an injury, especially a serious injury, they come back to try to recover here with our medical department. This happened with other players who have gone on loan and been injured.
Batshuayi will be desperate to return to full fitness ahead of June’s World Cup in Russia, where he will be hoping to feature for Belgium.
The ex-Marseille star’s future at Stamford Bridge remains massively uncertain but Conte is clearly supporting the player in his bid to make a speedy recovery in the coming months.
