Ian Wright couldn’t hide his delight with Manchester United star Jesse Lingard after his performance vs Chelsea in the Premier League.
The Englishman scored the winner for his side in the crucial clash that could potentially have saved the club’s season.
Lingard was set up by Romelu Lukaku and managed to get his name on the score-sheet just 11 minutes after being substituted onto the field.
The academy product would’ve certainly have been disappointed to have not started the match but gave his manager a selection headache ahead of the match vs Crystal Palace.
Alexis Sanchez started in the attacking midfield position for the game against the Blues and Wright believes that Jesse has done well in dealing with the Chilean’s arrival.
According to the Sport Review, Ian said to BBC Radio 5 Live: “I was delighted for Jesse Lingard. He has been very unlucky with the addition of Sanchez. He is still doing what he was doing before Sanchez arrived.”
The addition of Sanchez is almost definitely a luxury signing rather than a needed one given what it’s meant for the Red Devils’ remaining stars.
Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial both play on the left wing which is supposedly the former Arsenal star’s preferred position.
However, Jose Mourinho has also used Alexis in the attacking midfield position, meaning he’s intruded a little on Jesse Lingard as well.
The 25 year old is a versatile player and can adjust to other positions such as the wing or central midfield but has found his best for in the number 10 position.
Lingard was in the form of his life prior to Alexis Sanchez’s arrival but did begin to dip before Mourinho decided to drop him from the starting XI.
