Arsene Wenger has reportedly told his coaching staff that he will not resign as Arsenal manager in the summer (via The Times).
After four consecutive defeats and the resulting chaos, it seems as if every day is getting worse for Arsenal Football Club.
The team is a lopsided mess, the board aren’t silent and the vast majority of supporters believe that the manager should step down.
Well, it seems that Arsene Wenger won’t be doing so anytime soon if these reports are to be believed.
The Times is claiming that Wenger has told his coaching staff that he will not be stepping down in the summer.
His current contract expires in 2019 and considering the massive downturn in results on the pitch, that seems like a long time away for many Arsenal fans.
It’s clear that Arsene Wenger’s time at Arsenal is almost up. It’s a sad end for a manager who has been one of the greatest figures in the club’s long history but the time is right. The only problem is that Stan Kroenke, Ivan Gazidis and the rest of the Arsenal board seem incapable of making that call. After Wenger’s declaration, this could get messy.
