Reports suggest that the Arsenal players don’t want Mikel Arteta to replace Arsene Wenger as the club’s manager (via The Mirror).
With Arsene Wenger’s time at Arsenal surely coming to an end in the coming weeks or months, thoughts turn to the Frenchman’s successor.
Several candidates have been mentioned from experienced figures like Carlo Ancelotti to established managers like Joachim Loew and Max Allegri.
Some younger characters have also been cited as potential candidates with one of them being Mikel Arteta.
The former Arsenal captain is currently one of Pep Guardiola’s assistants at Manchester City and is held in high regard by everyone at the soon-to-be Premier League champions.
Arteta’s name was often brought up when discussing potential replacements for Wenger but it seems that this would not go down well at Arsenal.
Reports suggest that Arteta would be a hugely unpopular appointment amongst the Arsenal players with many claiming he is ‘arrogant’.
This is not a good attitude for the players to have. It will be the first time any of them has experienced a new manager at Arsenal and with that comes a lot of unknowns. The new appointment will bring in a lot of change, something which the club desperately needs right now whether the players like it or not.
