Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was delighted with Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford after their performances vs Liverpool.
The two academy products were instrumental in the club’s win over their fierce rivals with both players starting the hugely anticipated fixture.
Rashford scored both goals in the 2-1 win, singlehandedly taking apart the Reds within the first twenty minutes of the match.
The Englishman was superbly clinical and was allowed to perform to his maximum ability due to the protection given to him by McTominay and Matic.
The 21 year old has won over his manager this season in a way most wouldn’t have anticipated and Mourinho praises both players after the win.
Mourinho: “Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay – one scored two goals, special for a kid who feels the shirt in a special way because he was born here. McTominay played with such class and maturity. He really impressed me.” #mufc [BBC]

While United fans were ecstatic with the win over Jurgen Klopp’s men, what made it better was that they had players from their own academy featuring too.
Not only did they make an appearance but they both put in high quality performances and weren’t just ‘fill-in’ players who had no influence on the match.
Although they performed admirably, the pair of youngsters did have plenty to prove on the pitch given how things have gone recently for them.
Marcus was given the nod after Anthony Martial‘s injury kept him out of the match and Scott had to recover from being hauled off at half time to Crystal Palace.
The 20 year old has played second fiddle to the Frenchman for the past month but was given the chance to show just what he can do and boy did he do it well.
