Scott McTominay has been withdrawn from the Scotland squad to face Hungary after picking up an injury whilst on international duty.
The 21-year-old, who chose to represent Scotland over England earlier this month, was rewarded with a place in Alex McLeish’s squad for friendlies against Costa Rica and Hungary.
He was thrown straight into the starting lineup at Hampden Park on Friday night and produced a solid midfield display in a 1-0 defeat.
But Manchester United have confirmed that McTominay, ahead of his side’s visit to Hungary, has picked up an injury.

It wouldn’t be an international break if none of your players – especially those in superb form and growing in confidence with each game – suffered an injury, would it?
The exact severity of the knock is yet to be established, and supporters will just hope this isn’t a case similar to that of Marouane Fellaini back in October, where an excellent month for the Belgian was cut short by a knee injury from which he is yet to fully recover.
On the flip-side, McTominay’s injury, coupled with Fellaini’s continued problems, will give Paul Pogba – left out of the starting XI for France on Friday – a valuable chance to reassert himself on Mourinho’s lineup.
