Former Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko has given some words of wisdom to the club’s out-of-form forward Alvaro Morata.
As reported by the London Evening Standard, the former Milan and Chelsea forward urged Morata to become more clinical in front of goal.
I’ve seen a lot of him. He’s had a lot of chances. I think you need to improve the finishing when you have chances. It’s good when a striker has chances, it’s very positive. You need this for scoring goals and helping the team to win.
Morata has come in for criticism in recent weeks as his goal drought continues. The former Real Madrid frontman has been unable to find the back of the net since scoring against Brighton on Boxing Day.
Shevchenko himself was a striker that struggled for large spells during his time at Chelsea after a big-money move.
The Ukrainian international joined Chelsea in a £30 million deal back in 2006 but was unable to rediscover the form he had shown at Milan.
During his six seasons at the San Siro, the striker developed a clinical nature, netting 127 league goals. However, during his brief stint in England, he was only able to find the back of the net on nine occasions.
