Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has claimed Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho only attacks players he likes amid his public criticism of Luke Shaw and reported spat with Paul Pogba.
The Portuguese manager has been in the limelight lately for his man management as well as a couple of results that didn’t go in his favour.
United went on an important winning run by beating Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Liverpool all in a row, only to fall short vs Sevilla in the Champions League.
The loss to the Spanish side was a shock to many and saw the club exit at the knock out stages of Europe’s elite competition.
The Red Devils managed to bounce back vs Brighton in the FA Cup but both the fans and Mourinho were disgusted by the display.
According to Sportskeeda, Didier said to Telefoot: “It was heated between us [Drogba and Mourinho] more than once, but Jose will never attack people he doesn’t like.
“He likes Paul [Pogba] a lot. It’s why he’s given him a lot of responsibility.”
Drogba’s words will surely be music to Pogba and Shaw’s ears but there’s plenty that remains to be seen from either player before coming to any conclusions.
Jose certainly attacks or criticises certain players to get reactions out of them but it’s not until supporters see that positive reaction that both players’ futures will be considered safe.
Paul and Luke have both been touted to leave Old Trafford despite the former’s huge transfer fee and the latter’s potential to be a top left-back.
The Englishman in particular has been praised and criticised by the former Chelsea boss on many different occasions- an indicator of his inconsistencies in defence.
