Defender outlines ambitions to play for Chelsea next season

Kurt Zouma has outlined his ambition to play a key role at Chelsea next season when his loan deal at Stoke City expires.

As quoted by the Telegraph, the powerful defender assessed his time with the Potters so far and insisted that for the time being, his focus was solely poised on helping the club out of the relegation zone.

People know that I’m here for one season and it doesn’t matter what is going to happen after, I hope Stoke are going to stay in the Premier League.

However, Zouma did touch on his plans for the future and admitted that he is still targeting a return to Chelsea when the season comes to a close.

My target is to go back to Chelsea, but first do it right here. I don’t want the team to go down. Like the other players, we all have to show the fans we want to stay up.

There is no difference to me and the other players, we all have to fight to stay up.

Despite the Frenchman’s insistence that he is aiming to impress Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge when he comes back from Paul Lambert’s side, Zouma reiterated that he would only be happy if he is playing regular football in West London.

After that I hope to go back to Chelsea and play. They gave me a chance to go on loan and I spoke with the manager (Conte), who agreed with that and they helped me a lot from my injury and to find a club where I can play all the time. Everyone knows I am here for one year and then I’ll go back.

Although the promising centre-back has encountered injury woes during his spell at Chelsea thus far, he is understood to be regarded as a player for the future and is valued highly by those at Stamford Bridge.
