David de Gea has been handed the ‘Player of the Month’ award for February by Manchester United following another solid month between the sticks.
The Spaniard’s status as the best goalkeeper in the world was reinforced in emphatic fashion by his performance against Sevilla in the Champions League, where his save from Luis Muriel was beamed around the world and gawped at by viewers.
And the 27-year-old, having claimed three clean sheets over February, has been handed his first ‘Player of the Month’ award.

Nobody in the Premier League has more clean sheets than De Gea; no top six goalkeeper has made more saves than him this season. To refute the notion that he is world class is to refute facts themselves.
For all the talk surrounding Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho this month, with many casting doubt over the credentials of two huge names in the sport, De Gea was always there in the shadows, ruthlessly and calmly leading the way in his profession.
This always how it’s been with De Gea in the post-Fergie era: consistently impeccable displays whilst chaos and discord swirls around him. And where exactly this club would be right now without him is too painful to think about.
