Chelsea tried to sign AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli a few years ago and it appears that they may be about to revive their interest in him.
According to reports in Italy, Milan could be willing to sell the 23-year-old in the summer if they fail to qualify for the Champions League and if they do make him available, Chelsea will be in the mix to sign him.
According to Italian newspaper Leggo “several clubs are following the defender”, one of whom is said to be Chelsea, who have reportedly sent scouts to Milan to watch the centre-back in recent weeks.
With David Luiz seemingly out of favour and Gary Cahill struggling to find a level of consistency, Antonio Conte could dip back into the transfer market to add another central defender to his squad.
The Italian international looks to be a good fit for Conte’s three at the back system, but time will tell if they can get a deal done to take him to Stamford Bridge.
