Chelsea defender Gary Cahill is worried about his game time ahead of the World Cup in the summer.
England are looking to go and compete to win the World Cup in Russia this summer and Cahill is expected to be named in the squad to travel.
However, Cahill is concerned that he will not be able to hit his targets in terms of form and fitness going into the tournament.
This is due to his lack of involvement in Antonio Conte’s Chelsea side at present. He has been left out of the last two clashes and is expected to be excluded for a third straight game this weekend.
Speaking to The Evening Standard, Cahill said this:
We all know there is a World Cup at the end of the season so I have a target there where I need to be in form, fit and ready to play a big part in that tournament if I possibly can.
The former Bolton man took over the captaincy from John Terry, but has struggled to hold down a place in the team this season.
Cahill has played almost 300 games for Chelsea since joining the club.
