Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham is hoping to shine for Swansea in the absence of the injured Wilfried Bony.
Abraham, who got back to scoring ways when he put two past Notts County in the FA Cup for the Swans on Tuesday, said he feels like he has a “fresh start”.
Abraham ended a 14-game drought, and with Bony’s season-ending injury, he hopes he can now feature more prominently in Carlos Carvalhal’s side for the remainder of the season.
The 20-year-old claims that the Ivory Coast international’s loss is his own personal gain. Talking to the Mirror, he said;
I’m a bubbly person, like he is, and I always want to work hard and do my best.
It’s like a fresh start for me. I’m not a person who lacks confidence, I always believe in myself and when I get the chance I like to take it. Wilfried Bony’s injury is sad, but sometimes these things happen and give you the chance to step up.
Meanwhile Abraham has lauded the impact that Carvalhal has had on the Swansea squad, who are on a three-game winning streak in the Premier League, including scalps over Arsenal and Liverpool. He continued;
He’s motivated the players and lifted the whole atmosphere.
Abraham has now scored seven goals for Swansea who are yet to lose in their previous eight games.
