Ryan Giggs has revealed that Manchester United target Gareth Bale has no intention to leave the Bernabeu next summer.
Jose Mourinho outlined his interest for the Welshman over the summer, insisting he would go after the winger if he was available, but no bid was ever made.
But the club, according to reports, has continued to monitor Bale’s situation ahead of the transfer window amid rumours suggesting he would be allowed to leave.
However, the recently appointed Wales boss has made it clear that the 28-year-old, an important player for Los Blancos in recent weeks, was more than happy at the Bernabeu.
“[Bale] is happy at Real Madrid, he wants to stay, there’s no doubt,” he said. “He knows that the coach and the club respect him and he wants to show the fans what he is capable of.”
“I don’t know [of Manchester United interest], but Bale has no intention of leaving and Real Madrid won’t sell the player.
“It’s clear that United would’ve been very good for him, but I don’t think that’s an option at the moment, he’s not going to leave Real Madrid.”
Arjen Robben believed the best of his years were behind him when he was forced to leave Real Madrid. As a professional you would think, quite understandably, that the only way would be down after leaving the Bernabeu, but it turned out to be the best thing for him.
And perhaps Bale – a player who, like Robben, has impressed at Madrid without truly cementing himself – could head down a similar path. The Dutchman had little choice but to depart after Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka joined in 2009, and with Florentino Perez set to launch a similar onslaught in the transfer market this summer you sense Bale, regardless of how he feels, could be moved along.
