Ernesto Valverde has backed Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, who is currently under pressure after a number of poor results for the Blues, as per The Daily Mail.
The FC Barcelona head coach, whose team is nine points clear at the top of La Liga, and 19 points ahead of arch-rivals Real Madrid, has spoken about Chelsea and has said that the manager has his full backing.
Conte, despite his team sitting fourth and being five points ahead of sixth-placed Arsenal, is receiving criticism after Chelsea’s last two games have been humiliating defeats which the West London side would’ve expected to strongly win.
The first was a 3-0 home defeat to AFC Bournemouth last Wednesday, which was followed by a 4-1 defeat at Vicarage Road to Watford in Javi Gracia’s first home game in charge of the Hornets.
Despite this, Conte’s men are fourth, fighting for Champions League football, are in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup to face Hull City at home, are in the last 16 of the Champions League and narrowly were defeated by Arsenal in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup.
In the Champions League, Chelsea face FC Barcelona, whose manager Valverde, said about Conte’s situation (via The Daily Mail):
