Reports in Germany suggest that Arsenal are willing to include Olivier Giroud in any potential deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (via The Metro).
With Alexis Sanchez close to the Arsenal exit door, talks are ongoing for his reported replacement.
Chief executive, Ivan Gazidis is part of an Arsenal team currently in Germany trying to finalise a deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
We reported last week that the player has agreed on personal terms with the Gunners with just the clubs left to agree on a transfer fee.
Very often in deals like this, clubs are unwilling to sell a player unless they have signed a replacement.
Now, it has been reported in Germany that Arsenal are willing to give Borussia Dortmund that replacement by including Olivier Giroud on loan in any potential deal for Aubameyang.
Kicker claims that Arsenal are willing to offer Dortmund £52 million plus a six-month loan deal for Giroud to try and land their man.
It’s an interesting idea and one which probably makes sense for everyone. The Gunners need a player like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and his potential arrival would presumably mean less playing time is available for Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman is a fine player and certianly useful but will need to play first-team football with the World Cup just six months away.
