Arsenal have reportedly made an offer of £10 million plus Mathieu Debuchy for West Brom defender, Jonny Evans (via The Daily Star).
It’s not the star signing many Arsenal fans will want to hear about but it is probably a necessary one.
Arsenal have reportedly made an offer for the 30-year-old West Brom centre-back, Jonny Evans.
The former-Manchester United man joined the Baggies back in 2015 after winning three Premier League titles at Old Trafford.
Arsenal are reportedly in the market for a centre-back with Per Mertesacker retiring at the end of the season and as of next month, both Laurent Koscielny and Nacho Monreal will both be 32.
The offer for Evans is said to be in the region of £10 million and includes Mathieu Debuchy in the deal.
Evans has made 21 Premier League appearances for West Brom this season but with just 18 months left on his contract and reports that he could leave for as little as £3 million should they get relegated, The Telegraph reports that a move to Arsenal is ‘likely’.
Jonny Evans is a dependable defender and would be a solid signing for Arsenal, even just as cover. The Northern Irishman may not play for the next decade but for the next few years, he would provide stability in a position where Arsenal are missing just that.
