Hector Bellerin’s late strike denied Chelsea a comeback victory at the Emirates against Arsenal, in a pulsating 2-2 draw.
The first-half saw both Thibaut Courtois and Petr Cech called into action on multiple occasions but the deadlock wasn’t broken and the sides went in level, with Morata and Sanchez spurning good opportunities to put their respective sides in front before the break.
Chelsea and Arsenal shared 33 chances apiece, but the deadlock was only broken in the 61st-minute when Jack Wilshere hammered a shot in off the post. Their lead didn’t last long though as just four minutes later Eden Hazard won and converted a debatable penalty. Morata missed yet another good opportunity one on one with Cech before Marcos Alonso turned home Davide Zappacosta’s cross to give Chelsea the lead on 84 minutes. Arsenal pushed for an equaliser and probably deserved the point when Bellerin side-footed past Courtois on the volley in the second minute of injury time.
Chelsea nearly hit straight back to snatch all three points but again Morata’s shot lacked conviction and Zappacosta’s follow up cannoned off the crossbar to the relief of the Arsenal fans who had hardly finished celebrating before the Italian struck the woodwork. Here are our Chelsea player ratings from the game.
