Former-Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson greeted Alexis Sanchez at Old Trafford on Monday morning ahead of the forward’s transfer to the Reds.
A director at the club now, Ferguson was pictured talking to Sanchez in a car with an announcement of the Chilean’s move to the club imminent.

Sanchez completed a medical at Man United’s Carrington Aon Training Complex on Sunday and filmed promotional content at Old Trafford later in the day.
Confirmation of the 29-year-old joining the club is delayed by both he and Henrikh Mkhitaryan requiring the completion of work permit paperwork.
Mkhitaryan will join Arsenal in a rare player-swap deal. He and Sanchez are non-EU players and thus must update their work permits in the country.
Ferguson attempted to sign Sanchez from Udinese in 2011 but was beaten to his signature by FC Barcelona. In 2010, he said, “We have looked at Sanchez and he has impressed us. He has had very good games and is an interesting project.”
It’s now more than half a decade since the Scot did what Jose Mourinho will do shortly, greet Arsenal’s best player ahead of officially signing them.
Ferguson signed Robin van Persie for a cheap £24m and the Dutchman propelled United to their 20th style in emphatic fashion.
Mourinho and United fans will be hoping Sanchez can do the same, and prove to be the talisman for a relatively young side.
Even the key first team players like Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku are under the age of 25 while Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Eric Bailly, Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof and Scott McTominay are all very young.
