Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is only willing to sign a new contract with the club should the board meet his one condition.
The Portuguese manager was portrayed by the media to be a man who’s not enjoying himself and was often linked with a move away from United due to their poor recent form.
The Red Devils were on a winless streak having lost to Bristol City then found themselves drawing Leicester City, Burnley and Southampton and it was at this time that rumours were at their strongest.
Mourinho has since dismissed the reports as utter garbage and has insisted that he wishes to remain at Old Trafford for as long as the board want him to.
His players ended the streak with back to back wins vs Everton and Derby with the former Chelsea manager now being reported to be close to a contract extension but he’s apparently holding back on one condition.
According to The Sun, Jose is looking to be given reassurance from the board over the club’s transfer policy after being let down in previous markets.
The rumours of Jose Mourinho’s unhappiness with the board are nothing new and seem to make sense with a manager who’s never been happy to go about his business without maximum influence on proceedings.
At Chelsea it is said that it’s for these reasons that he had a fallout with the owner and director of football which ultimately led to his sacking despite his success.
Manchester United will surely wish to avoid a repeat of that embarrassing situation and should provide their manager with the utmost support possible if they want to get back to being England’s best.
