Manchester United are planning to hijack Real Madrid’s bid to sign Harry Kane next summer, according to reports from Spain.
Jose Mourinho has expressed interest in the England striker ever since becoming Man United boss but Spurs, as you’d expect, have adamantly refused to do business.
Kane beat both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to claim the highest goalscoring tally of last year – 56 in total – and has attracted the attention of Zinedine Zidane, who will look to replace Karim Benzema at the end of the season.
And according to Spanish media outlet Don Balon, United have emerged as Real’s main rivals in their bid to prize Kane away from North London.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino recently claimed that Kane doesn’t have a price, insisting he was off the market. But he will know that every man, regardless of circumstances, has a price at some point. This is just the world we live in, I’m afraid.
The sum potential suitors would have to shell out for Kane, however, would be nothing short of astronomical – probably north of £150m – and you have to wonder whether shelling out such an amount on a striker just a year after lumping £75m on Romelu Lukaku makes sense, especially with more obvious areas in need of addressing.
