Jupp Heynckes has confirmed he received interest from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain after completing the treble with Bayern Munich in 2013, reports FAZ.
In January 2013, Bayern revealed that Pep Guardiola would become the new manager in the following season, with Heynckes retiring after his third stint as the Bayern manager.
The German won all four trophies available in the 2012/2013 season before rejecting both Chelsea and PSG as he was focused on enjoying his retirement. Heynckes suffered defeat in the Champions League final in the previous season at the hands of Chelsea.
The 72-year-old revealed Roman Abramovic wanted to visit his home to discuss a potential move, but he declined, stating that he was “done”.
Roman Abramovich wanted to visit my home. I said — no thanks. I am done.
Heynckes also confirmed PSG intended on hiring him and aimed to persuade him in an unconventional manner.
PSG’s boss wanted to bring his whole entourage, including his chefs, to cook at my farmhouse. I didn’t want that either.
Heynckes has since returned to Bayern four years later after Carlo Ancelotti was dismissed following a heavy defeat to PSG and poor league form.
On his return, Heynckes has won 17 of 18 games, including a DFB Pokal title.
