Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Manchester United are on the verge of signing Alexis Sanchez but noted that the deal hasn’t been completed just yet.
Arsene Wenger confirmed on Thursday morning that Sanchez would complete a move to Old Trafford within 24 hours, with outcast Henrikh Mkhitaryan going the other way.
But the BBC’s David Ornstein confirmed earlier today that, while the Chilean was all set to join Man United, negotiations over Mkhitaryan’s deal were ongoing.
And Mourinho, when asked about Sanchez, admitted that Man United, as Wenger noted, were close to signing the 28-year-old but added that no deal had been done yet.
Jose: "Nothing new, I think clearly everybody knows that we are there and especially when @Arsenal manager speaks so clearly like he did there is no point in trying to hide or deny but not done at all, so in this moment Mkhitaryan our player, Sanchez an Arsenal player."

Ornstein ominously noted this morning that the Mkhitaryan deal could still go “either way” after negotiations over the Armenian’s wages continued to rumble on throughout Thursday, despite some reports suggesting the deal was imminent.
But you sense that this entire saga has reached a stage so advanced that turning back, calling off the deal altogether, feels extremely unlikely. Those in the United camp expect Sanchez to come and those at the Emirates are, alongside waiting for their biggest goalscorer to finally leave, expecting Mkhitaryan.
The forward will not, therefore, feature at Turf Moor tomorrow, and looks set to make his debut against Yeovil Town instead.
