Chelsea will walk away from their move to sign Edin Dzeko from Roma if a deal is not struck by the end of the weekend, according to the Telegraph.
The Blues are keen to recruit the Bosnia and Herzegovina international from the Serie A side this month and plan to sign him in a double deal, with them also looking to land Emerson Palmieri from Roma.
However, negotiations between the clubs have been difficult and they appeared to have reached an impasse, as Roma aim to retain the services of their star striker.
It’s stated in the report that Chelsea are unwilling to meet Roma’s valuation of Dzeko as they feel it is excessive for a 31-year-old striker. Along with this, they are coy with regards to accepting the former Manchester City striker’s wage demands.
The Blues have been linked to a number of strikers but Dzeko appears to top their wish list. Although, if a deal is not close by Monday, it seems they will abandon their pursuit of the prolific forward and explore other avenues.
