Chelsea boss nominated for managerial award

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte has been nominated for the Manager of the Month award for December.

The London Evening Standard reports that Conte will battle against Sam Allardyce, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, Roy Hodgson, Jurgen Klopp and Spurs’ Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea enjoyed a strong run of form over the festive period, winning five from seven as they maintain a push for a second-place finish.

Voting will be done on the Barclays Facebook page and the winner of the award will be announced on January 12.

During his first season in charge of Chelsea, Conte won the Manager of the Month award on three consecutive occasions, winning in September, October and November.

He was also named as the Premier League Manager of the Season and the LMA Manager of the Year during his title-winning campaign.

Chelsea had momentarily jumped ahead of Manchester United in the Premier League table during December but now sit a point behind Jose Mourinho’s side after 22 games.
