According to The Independent, Manchester United and Chelsea are set to be frustrated in deals for £50m-rated Alex Sandro in the January window.
Manchester United and Chelsea target Alex Sandro is likely to stay at Juventus with the club refusing to let the Brazilian go. This will be a huge transfer blow for Manchester United and Chelsea who are looking to add more depth in their left-back positions.
United manager Jose Mourinho hasn’t found a consistent starter at left-back with Daley Blind, Ashley Young, and Luke Shaw tried and tested in that position. The blues are very thin on the left side of defence with Marcos Alonso being their only recognised left-back at the club.
Alex Sandro has been a long-term target for Antonio Conte, who used to manage the Serie A champions. The club from Turin have been hit with departures from Leonardo Bonucci to AC Milan and Daniel Alves to PSG in the summer. This means that it will be highly unlikely that Sandro will go as they don’t want any more losses from their backline.
Business this winter has now been held up due to an earlier transfer to Atalanta. The Serie A outfit loaned Leonardo Spinazzola from Juventus, and have refused to cut the deal short. As a result, Juventus have made sure that Sandro doesn’t depart. This will mean that any bids from United or Chelsea will have to wait until the summer, which could see a competitive bidding war between the two clubs.
Sandro has been out of sorts at Juventus this season. Having helped his side to the Champions League final last season, some fans of the Brazilian have accused him of not playing to his best ability since his failed move to London.
