The Chelsea squad will not be affected by rumours about Antonio Conte’s future at the club, according to captain Gary Cahill.
As reported by the London Evening Standard, Cahill has backed the rest of the squad to give everything for the Italian until the end of the season.
That’s right — we as players have to do that. This is a case of individual circumstances and situations. It is between the manager and the board. We have no idea what’s going on.
We just continue to work, give what we can for him and the team. That’s the way we have to be.
Reports have suggested that former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique is being lined up to replace Conte, is who is likely to leave at the end of the campaign.
Enrique is currently out of work with former Chelsea and Barcelona defender Juliano Belletti being linked with the vacant director of football role.
Conte and the club’s board have clashed on several occasions already this season regarding transfers.
The relationship between the head coach and the club has been at breaking point for some time.
Conte was unhappy about the decision to sell Nemanja Matic to Manchester United during the summer.
While the board were disappointed in Conte’s behaviour towards former striker Diego Costa, who returned to Atletico Madrid earlier this season.
