Antonio Conte has said he isn’t worried over fears that Marcos Alonso could become burned out this season having played so many games.
The 27-year old full-back/wing-back has been a regular starter for Chelsea in all competitions this season, in part due to the club’s lack of depth in his position.
Chelsea are closing in on a Roma double swoop that would include Emerson Palmieri, a left-sided full-back to provide competition for Alonso and allow him rest time.
The 23-year old Brazilian born Italy international has found game time difficult at the Stadio Olimpico this season, due to the good form of Aleksandar Kolarov at left-back.
Despite this, Palmieri is one of the highest rated fullbacks in European football, and he would still be likely to feature heavily for Chelsea should he switch Rome for London this month.
Despite Conte’s reliance on the former Bolton and Sunderland defender, he insists the Spaniard is always prepared when called upon. He said;
I’m not worried.
Last season we faced this situation in the same way. I’m not worried. He is ready to play and to play every game.
