Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has identified Alvaro Morata as Chelsea’s main threat.
It was confirmed on Monday that the Blues will lock horns with Valverde’s Barca side in the Champions League round of 16, with the fixtures set to be played next year.
Barca have been in good form this season and currently sit at the top of La Liga. Chelsea, however, have not been in the best shape. They’re currently situated in third place on the Premier League table.
Valverde looked ahead to his side’s clash against Chelsea, which will be played over two legs, and discusses the abundance of quality Antonio Conte has at his disposal.
As quoted by Football London, the former Athletic Bilbao manager was quick to single out Morata for praise, insisting that his arrival has added another dimension of pace to Chelsea’s attacking force.
It’s a tough draw for us because of the magnitude of the opposition. Chelsea are champions of the Premier League but we’re excited about the tie, even though it will be difficult. Chelsea are a strong and physical team, with a clear tactical system in place.
They take advantage of the physical nature of the Premier League well. With the signing of Morata they’ve added pace in attack.
The striker has been in good form for Chelsea this season and will be keen to make his mark against Barcelona.
