Romelu Lukaku became Belgium’s all-time top goalscorer at the age of just 24 with a second half strike in a friendly against Japan on Tuesday night.
The striker, who has gone eight games without a goal at Manchester United, netted a brace against Mexico last week to pull level with Paul van Himst and Bernard Voorhoof on 30 goals.
And during what was a tight, cagey affair against Japan, Lukaku drifted off the shoulder of his marker to nod home from Nacer Chadli’s perfectly weighted ball to forever write his name in the history books.
Here is a video of the moment Lukaku became his country’s finest ever goalscorer.

And the striker took to social media following the 1-0 win to express his delight and thank fans for their support.
Big thank you to all my teammates that i had playing for @BelRedDevils! You all helped since i joined at 16! Thank you to my family as well for the support! Glory to God always! http://pic.twitter.com/7rt1kS6VeT

For all of the hysteria surrounding the quality of Lukaku’s overall output on the pitch in recent weeks, which somehow engendered a mini war between Mourinho and a section of Man United’s fanbase, there is one unswerving, clear-as-day aspect to his game that will always standout: a nose for where the goal is.
And this particular strike, which will go down in Belgian sporting history, served as a perfect example of exactly what the man can give you if players around him make the right runs and show genuine attacking intent.
Chadli skilfully glided into the box, brushing past a couple of blue shirts, and was able to float the ball towards the six yard box. What happened next was a foregone conclusion.
