James Wilson could be set for a loan move to Aston Villa during the January transfer window, according to reports.
The youngster claimed a brace on his senior debut back in May 2014 and made 19 appearances under Louis van Gaal, but hasn’t featured for the first team since October 2015.
He joined Derby County on loan last term but a severe injury meant he returned to Carrington having only played four matches.
And according to the Express‘ Alex Harris, the absence of main striker Jonathan Kodija and over-reliance on youngster Keinan Davis, along with the Financial Fair Play restrictions making any permanent deals unlikely, could convince Steve Bruce to make a move for the 21-year-old.
Like many before him, Wilson was something of a shooting star at Old Trafford. His entry to the first team under caretaker boss Ryan Giggs prompted excitement and Van Gaal kept him around the squad without ever really giving him the run of games Marcus Rashford immediately after breaching the first team.
Eventually, the appearances started to diminish, and the youngster naturally went on loan, only to suffer from a glut of beleaguering injuries.
Supporters will just hope to see Wilson, following two frustrating years, finally receive the regular game time he needs.
