Eden Hazard aims another strange dig at Jose Mourinho

Eden Hazard has launched another attack at Jose Mourinho – this time for his treatment of Mohamed Salah during his time at Chelsea.

The Egyptian forward arrived at Stamford Bridge from FC Basel in 2013, signing for a fee of around £11m, but only made 13 Premier League appearances during his two campaigns at the club.

He enjoyed a superb resurgence at Roma and has made a superb start to life at Liverpool this season, netting 14 goals in all competitions.

And Hazard, in an interview with the Daily Mail, was quick to lay into Mourinho for not giving Salah the chance to thrive.

“He was unlucky not to get longer (at Chelsea),” he said. “He didn’t get the chance — maybe because of the manager, maybe because of the players.”

“He has quality but in this period I remember it was me, Willian and Oscar, so for him it was not easy. But he’s a top player for sure.

“In training he did everything. Even in the games when he was playing, sometimes he scored goals, so we know the quality he has.”

Hazard has developed a strange habit of firing jibes in Mourinho’s direction despite the fact that the Portuguese was the man who oversaw his first Premier League title.

Their relationship obviously soured over the following campaign, with the Belgian enduring his worst ever spell of form, but to still be upset about it two years later shows you what kind of individual Hazard can be.

Either way, his point about Salah makes little sense. The likes of himself, Samuel Eto’o, Andre Schurrle, Oscar and Willian were all miles ahead of him at that point, and it took him a couple of years of regular game time at a high standard – well, Serie A – to reach the level required to thrive in the Premier League.
