Chelsea are ready to renew their interest in Stoke City’s Jack Butland if Thibaut Courtois does leave the club.
The Daily Mail report that the club are putting plans in place to prepare themselves for the possible departure of the Belgian shot-stopper.
Reports emerged throughout the week suggesting that contract talks between Courtois and the club had stalled.
The goalkeeper himself admitted that there is still plenty of time left on his current deal for both parties to come to an agreement.
Courtois’s contract expires at the end of next season and Real Madrid have been linked with a move after long-term interest in the Belgian.
Stoke will stand firm and demand a fee somewhere in the region of £30 million for the player, after Everton paid Sunderland a British-record fee for a goalkeeper for Jordan Pickford.
Chelsea tried to sign Butland when he was coming through the ranks at Birmingham but he opted for Stoke.
The Blues believe he could now join the club and take over as the number one should Courtois leave.
