Chelsea have apologised to a group of supporters who were left stranded in Liverpool after a supporters’ train left the station without them.
A train had been organised by Thomas Cook Sport, an official travel partner of the Premier League champions, but it is estimated that somewhere between 100-200 fans were left in Liverpool with no way of getting home.
The incident has been put down to heavy traffic in and around the ground at full-time. Two coaches which were full of Chelsea fans were due to arrive at Liverpool South Parkway station but didn’t make it in time.
