This incredible Bruno Fernandes stat puts him top of world football this season

Manchester United’s marathon season is reaching its climax with just five league games left to play.

The FA Cup final will bring the curtains down on United’s campaign with Manchester City their opponents on June 3 at Wembley.

United players will have certainly earned their summers off, having played what will be 63 games by the end of season.

One man particularly in need of a recharge is Bruno Fernandes, having been almost ever-present over the course of the campaign.

As reported by transfermarkt.com, Fernandes has played 54 of the 57 games United have played so far, missing two through suspension and being the given the night off for the other.

Suspension meant the Portuguese missed United’s 1-3 league defeat to Aston Villa and the 0-3 collapse in Seville, which ended United’s European dream and highlighted his importance to the team.

He was left out of the squad for an early Carabao Cup home win against Charlton, the only game he has not been picked for when available.

United’s packed calendar and the Portugal international’s commitment to the cause has led him to play more games than any player in world football this season.

Fernandes is three clear of Real Madrid’s Rodrygo for club appearances with Inter’s Lautaro Martinez behind them in third on 49 games.

Bruno has also played nine times for his country, pushing his season total to 63 and could result in him playing just one shy of 70 games should he feature in United’s remaining matches.

The consistency in terms of Fernandes’ availability is remarkable and has made him Erik ten Hag’s right hand man this season.

He has captained the side for the majority of the year with club captain Harry Maguire struggling to get into the team.

The Portuguese is expected to be handed the captaincy on an official basis next season with Maguire likely to leave.
