Huge injury boost for Ten Hag: two key stars should be back vs Everton

Manchester United returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a hard-fought victory over high-flying Brentford on Wednesday.

The win meant the Red Devils re-entered the Premier League top-four and they will be looking to cement their Champions League ambitions by doing the league double over Everton on Saturday.

The win over the Bees came at a cost, however, as left-back Luke Shaw was forced off injured early in the first-half.

Shaw injury not too serious

The England international was seen heading straight to the tunnel and there were concerns of a hamstring injury that could have ruled him out for an extended period.

The Times has now stated that the injury is not too serious and the full-back is not expected to be missing in action for too long.

“It is understood that the substitution was made as a precaution and that after further tests, United’s staff do not regard the problem as serious, so Shaw will not be out for long,” the report mentioned.

Should Ten Hag decide to take a precautionary step by giving Shaw a rest, Tyrell Malacia is expected to step in against the Toffees.

Christian Eriksen was pictured in training on Thursday for the first time since he damaged ankle ligaments in the FA Cup win over Reading in January.

Eriksen could be back for Everton clash

And there is a chance that the United midfielder could be part of the matchday squad on Saturday.

Ten Hag told Viaplay in Denmark (via Yahoo UK), “We will see. We see it from day to day. He is progressing. He is only back in team training this week. We have two sessions. After that, we will decide if he is back in the squad again.”

United have certainly missed the Dane, whose passing and vision helped United control the tempo during games, something that has been missing since his injury.

With Casemiro expected to be back after his suspension next week, United are expected to be close to full-strength ahead of the season finale.
