Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has decided on the man to replace Hector Bellerin for the upcoming season, with the Spaniard strongly tipped to exit the club before the transfer window closes.
According to a report via the Sun, England star and former Spurs full-back Kieran Trippier is available for transfer from Atletico Madrid, but the Spanish champions are demanding a fee ‘well in excess of £20million’ – which could end up nearing £34m.
Premier League rivals Manchester United had been the frontrunners to pick up the England man following the conclusion of the Euros, but they were only willing to pay around £20million for the now 31-year-old.
Arsenal will be hoping to continue to re-shape their backline with the addition of the highly experienced full-back, who just last season helped Atletico to a La Liga title ahead of Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The report does however suggest that Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone doesn’t want to sell Kieran Trippier, but the club are battling financial restraints and may have to reluctantly move on players should the ‘right offers’ be made.
Kieran Trippier has assisted 10 goals in just over 50 games for the Spanish giants and still has two years remaining on his current deal in Spain, having signed from Tottenham back in 2019.
