Scott McTominay was voted BT Sport’s man of the match as Manchester United overcame Watford to reach the FA Cup fourth round tonight.
The Scotsman got off to a flying start in the game, netting Alex Telles’ vicious cross in the fifth minute in fine style.
That proved to be the only goal of the game and McTominay, who was made captain for the night until Harry Maguire came on just before half time for the unfortunate Eric Bailly.
McTominay led from the front with a fine performance both offensively and defensively. In the first half he wom 100% of all duels, achieved 85% pass accuracy, made three clearances and one block.
He also covered admirably and intelligently for Eric Bailly while the centre back was receiving treatment after he had collided with Dean Henderson.

The second half saw him post similar statistics despite the fact that giving up the armband appeared to dampen his drive a little.
