Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained Fred’s absence from the squad in the crucial win over West Ham.
The legendary Norwegian managed to inspire his stars to a comeback victory after what was clearly a poor 45 minutes.
Solskjaer made two substitutions at the break having trailed at half time and it made all the difference in the three points.
United scored through Paul Pogba, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford to finish off the tie at 3-1 but Fred’s absence was noticed by fans.
The tenacious Brazilian has been a key player in the starting eleven of late but did not play a part in what was a brilliant comeback win.
Solskjær: "Fred's not injured. He's getting ready for the rest of the season because we've got a long season. Today it was a tactical decision to go with a more physically strong, or with more height. Height is more right than physically strong." #mulive [mu]

Solskjaer could be telling the truth because Fred has played a remarkable amount of football of late but it’s equally believable the player may be punished.
The former Shakhtar Donetsk man wasn’t solely responsible for the midweek loss to PSG but his sending off did see things spiral a little.
Many expected he’d be played vs West Ham as he would get rest vs RB Leipzig anyway given how he’s suspended but Solskjaer opted against doing so.
Nonetheless, when Fred does return to the starting XI he should be fit and well-rested which can only be a good thing.
