Player ratings: Three tied for top score, two for bottom as United beat Everton

Manchester United beat Everton 2-0 at Goodison Park this evening to advance to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.. Here are our player ratings for the game:

(A score of 6 is around average.)

Dean Henderson 7 – Not much to do but did nothing wrong and made an excellent save in the first half.

Axel Tuanzebe 8 – Actually looked a lot more solid at RB than Wan-Bissaka has of late. It wasn’t a flawless performance but it was solid and disciplined.

Eric Bailly 7 – A couple of Eric’s trademark rushes of blood to the head but an all-round commanding performance. Must put the fear of god into opposition forwards.

Harry Maguire 6 – A mixed bag from captain Harry. Some good clearances but looks like a baby deer on ice when in possession and made a bad error in the second half that could have been punished.

Alex Telles 6.5 – Looked lively in the first half and put in some excellent crosses. Faded badly in the second, not sure if it was fitness or injury issues that led to him being substituted.

Nemanja Matic 6 – Seemed a little slow and invisible in the first half but got better as the match wore on.

Paul Pogba 7 – Did well for the most part without setting the world on fire. Does seem to be enjoying his football a little more again.

Mason Greenwood 7 – Played with lots of pace and skill and was arguably United’s best player in the first half. Was unlucky to be subbed.

Bruno Fernandes 7 – No goal or assist for Bruno? Whatever next?

Donny van de Beek 6 – You have to feel sorry for Van de Beek, hardly ever gets a game and when he does, he’s stuck out on the left wing. Looked like a fish out of water.

Edinson Cavani 8 – What a wonder strike to win the game for United.
Substitutes

Marcus Rashford 6 – Was not any sort of upgrade on Greenwood on the right. Missed an easy chance in the dying minutes.

Anthony Martial 8 – A great substitute appearance. Had a hand in Cavani’s goal and took his own well.

Luke Shaw 6 – Managed to get a booking in the short time he was on.

Edinson Cavani has made quite an impact since his deadline day arrival at Old Trafford, but how much do you know about our other South American players, past and present? Take our quiz below to find out!
