Latest team news for United v Everton as two more ruled out of clash

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided an injury update for tonight’s EFL Quarter Final clash with Everton at Goodison Park.

The boss has confirmed that United will definitely be without two key players who both sustained injuries during Sunday’s 6-2 victory over Leeds United.

Scott McTominay limped off the pitch in the dying seconds of the game after appearing to suffer a groin injury, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka also took a knock while making a challenge during the game.

‘Those two will miss the game against Everton definitely,’ Solskjaer told MUTV.

‘Hopefully, it won’t be too long. They’ll be out but, apart from that, I think everyone is, more or less, okay.’

With a tough away Premier League tie against Leicester City awaiting the Red Devils on Saturday lunchtime, the manager also confirmed that a number of other players would be rested despite this being a quarter final he desperately wants to win.

‘We will make a few changes,’ he said.

‘There have been a few players playing in the Carabao Cup earlier in the season and some will need a rest after the Leeds game. So it will be a fresh team.’

One player Solskjaer already said would be included in the squad is Jesse Lingard, who has not featured at all recently due to a combination of injury, fitness and Covid quarantine issues.

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that the Toffees will be without talisman James Rodriguez for the tie. The Colombian has been out since the 1-1 draw at Burnley on the 5th December due to a calf injury.

Andre Gomes may be back after missing the weekend’s 2-1 victory over Arsenal due to a thigh injury and faces a late fitness test. Allan Marques Loureiro, Lucas Digne, Fabian Delph and Jean-Philippe Gbamin are ruled out. Seamus Coleman could be set to return for a first start since October.

Edinson Cavani has made quite an impact since his deadline day arrival at Old Trafford, but how much do you know about our other South American players, past and present? Take our quiz below to find out!
