Manchester United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has strongly hinted he will support Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the long-term amid plenty of criticism.
The legendary Norwegian’s job is under consideration for the first time in a while despite successfully leading the club to a third-place finish last season.
It’s the patchy start to this campaign that has seen Solskjaer suddenly put under tremendous pressure, particularly after poor, back to back defeats to Arsenal and Istanbul Basaksehir.
In both losses, United hardly rose to the occasion and it was the performances, rather than the results, that left fans fuming.
The inconsistent form has seen rumours rise again that Mauricio Pochettino will take over from Solskjaer, who bought himself a little time by defeating Everton before this international break began.
Firm backing from Woodward for Solskjaer in statement to accompany #mufc Q1 results: "On the pitch, while there is still hard work ahead to achieve greater consistency, we remain absolutely committed to the positive path we are on under Ole as the team continues to develop"

Woodward has often made such false promises, as previous managers Jose Mourinho and Louis van Gaal can testify, so Solskjaer can’t be feeling too comfortable.
If the executive vice-chairman really wanted to make a statement, he would’ve released something to the press to make it absolutely clear he’s fully behind the former Molde man.
Instead, fans consistently hear leaks coming through claiming Pochettino is waiting patiently on the wings.
There’s always confusion in the message as well as it would insist there are no plans to sack Solskjaer but if is sacked then the former Tottenham boss is one of the people who could be hired.
United have had some world class goalkeepers over the years and some entertaining ones too. Take our quiz below to find out how much you know about United’s number 1’s, past and present.
