4-2-3-1: The Red Devils will slay the Saints with this brilliant line-up

Marcus Rashford, Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have all recovered from injuries and will be fit to face Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium tomorrow.

Tuesday night’s line-up against Istanbul Basaksehir, with Edinson Cavani leading the line and Rashford and Martial on the wings, looked much more fluid and balanced than those of recent games and United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be tempted to maintain that same rhythm for the tricky Premier League fixture.

When asked at the pre-match press conference, Solksjaer remarked ‘The game against Istanbul, they had the spaces that we felt was going to suit that set-up. Always, when you look into the game, you look at your team but also at how the opposition set up.’ This could be a hint that he will revert back to another formation.

Another consideration is that United are due to face Cavani’s old club PSG on Wednesday and the boss could be tempted to save the 33-year-old for that crucial tie. This could mean that Anthony Martial will return to the centre-forward role and that Mason Greenwood makes his first start since the 1-0 home defeat to Arsenal four weeks ago.

In midfield, the almost certain absence of both Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba through injury could see Donny van de Beek retain his place in the starting XI, especially after his fine performance on Tuesday. Fred appears to be a permanent fixture in the side at the moment although Nemanja Matic is another option in midfield.

The back line is expected to be unchanged, with Alex Telles continuing his attempts to make the left-back berth his own whilst Luke Shaw recovers from a hamstring injury.

With all that in mind, here is our predicted line-up for tomorrow’s match:
