Arsenal and Chelsea will have to pay over £21 million to sign Brazilian defensive midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, according to reports from Goal.
According to the report, Portuguese side Benfica have been told that they will need to pay €25 million to bring the midfielder to the club.
The Blues and the Gunners have been heavily linked with a deal for the defensive midfielder, with Arsenal already making contact with Athletico Paranaense over a potential deal.
Benfica have a verbal agreement with Athletico to sign the player, as per Goal, but Arsenal and Chelsea will be hoping to swoop in a steal a deal for the player.
However, the deal would only cover 80% of his economic rights, with Arsenal or Chelsea knowing they will have to secure a deal to secure the rest of his ownership due to the Premier League banning third-party ownership of players.
REad Chelsea’s verdict
The midfielder is a hot-property in Brazil, with many tipping him for great things for club and country.
Now that a price is known for the midfielder, Chelsea surely have to make a move if they have a legitimate interest in Bruno Guimaraes, especially with Benfica looking the most likely to secure a deal.
Guimaraes has a superb passing ability, and would be great in the centre of midfield for the Blues, as per Whoscored.
