Team News – Match Reports – Player Ratings
Match: Norwich v Arsenal
Venue: Carrow Road, Norwich
Kick-Off (UK Time): 14:00 01/12/2019
—–
Here’s how we rate the Arsenal players:
Bernd Leno – 6
He made a couple of really good saves to keep his side in the match. Bernd Leno can’t attract too much blame here.
Calum Chambers – 3.5
Calum Chambers was poor. Arsenal had some real problems down his flank as the Englishman was caught out of position on far too many occasions. He’d push too high and allow the home side to counter.
Shkodran Mustafi – 3.5
Good on the ball but Shkodran Mustafi was caught out defensively. He was partly to blame for the goals by Pukki and Cantwell. The German was left embarrassed by Pukki once again later in the second half and could’ve cost his side a goal.
David Luiz – 5
He was okay. David Luiz was clearly tasked with playing further up the field and being a little more adventurous with the ball at his feet.
Sead Kolasinac – 5
Sead Kolasinac had a couple of good moments in attack and did well enough at the other end. Most of Norwich’s efforts were focussed on the other flank.
Granit Xhaka – 5
Granit Xhaka started this game extremely well but he did drift out of the match. The Swiss midfielder has clearly been told to be a little more adventurous with his passing by Freddie Ljungberg. It worked to Arsenal’s benefit but after the break, he was at fault for a couple of Norwich attacks.
Matteo Guendouzi – 5
He did okay. Matteo Guendouzi kept good care of the ball but didn’t see much of it in the final third of the pitch. It was a bit of a frustrating one for him.
Sub: Bukayo Saka (78′) – 5
He had a few good moments.
Joe Willock – 5
He did okay. Joe Willock couldn’t quite find the ball in those attacking areas as he likes but he did well enough. It wasn’t really a match in which he could shine but hopefully, his injury isn’t too bad.
Sub: Lucas Torreira (70′) – 5
Lucas Torreira did what he needed to in midfield.
Mesut Ozil – 4
Mesut Ozil really struggled today. The former Germany international couldn’t find the ball in the areas he would’ve wanted and most of his most creative moments came from set-pieces.
Sub: Gabriel Martinelli (90′) – N/A
Barely involved.
Alexandre Lacazette – 4
He struggled to make an impact on the game. Alexandre Lacazette barely had a sniff in front of goal despite a couple of promising moments. His one big chance came in the first half but hs fluffed his lines.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 7.5
He made the difference for Arsenal. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang grabbed the all-important goals for his side.
