David de Gea 4 – Was clearly fouled for the goal, but should have been stronger in the challenge with Calvert-Lewin.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka 7 – Three brilliant second half spidertackles in the penalty area from the best right back on the planet.
Victor Lindelof 2 – After a bright start with a couple of great long-range passes, degenerated into his squandering, blundering self and conceded a dreadful own goal.
Harry Maguire 6 – Must be longing for a decent partner at centre back.
Luke Shaw 5 – Lost possession in a dangerous area in the first half, but fantastic covering in the 71st minute almost certainly prevented a second Everton goal.
Scott McTominay 4 – Wasn’t able to take game by the scruff of the neck at all – one of the Scotsman’s least impressive performances for the Reds.
Fred 7 – Is rapidly becoming the heartbeat of this young Manchester United side. Must have covered every blade of grass and was of United’s stand out performers.
Daniel James 5 – Runs like a greyhound but crosses like one as well. Improved in the second half but lacks finesse.
Jesse Lingard 3 – If he cuts through his birthday cake the way he cut through the Everton defence, there’s going to be a lot of empty bellies at that party.
Marcus Rashford 5 – A frustrating game for Rashford. Didn’t get much service and as a result tried to do too much when he did get the ball.
Anthony Martial 3 – Made a terrible clearance in the first half that was lucky not to be punished. Terrible dive in the second that also went unpunished.
Substitutes
Mason Greenwood 8 – What else must this phenomenal goalscorer do to prove himself? Surely he has to start the next few Premier League games.
Juan Mata 5 – Didn’t have much of an opportunity to affect the course of the game.
