Manchester United star Scott McTominay proved just how badly his side missed him in his absence as he put in a dominant display vs Tottenham.
Had fans been told a year ago that a midfield of the sensational academy product and Fred would dominate Jose Mourinho’s Spurs, many would’ve laughed it off.
In fact the tenacious Brazilian had the chance to shine on his own due to McTominay’s injury layoff but he failed to do so alongside Andreas Pereira.
Whatever it is about the talented Scotsman, he seems to bring the best out of Fred and those around him with United returning to winning ways on his return being no coincidence.
Paul Pogba’s long injury recovery itself was already somewhat ignored simply due to McTominay’s performances and long may that continue.
Scott McTominay’s game by numbers vs. Spurs:
100% defensive aerials won
100% successful take-ons
65% of passes forward
10 ball recoveries
3/4 long balls
3 interceptions
2 tackles wonLeader. pic.twitter.com/ALatDM7gU6

In fact, McTominay has performed so well there’s even been whispers that Pogba should be pushed further forward into the attacking-midfield role so he can continue to flourish alongside Fred.
Other whispers have been even more bizarre with some suggesting the world-class Frenchman can now be allowed to leave.
McTominay is normally a little more box to box than his stats suggest so it’s clear he was instructed to hold his position and he did so to devastating effect.
