Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly has concerns over Luke Shaw following certain circumstances as well as the emergence of Brandon Williams this season.
The academy product’s performances have been so impressive some fans have called for him to replace the former Southampton man permanently.
Shaw has certainly not hit the potential United hoped he’d have when they initially purchased him but it’d be harsh to claim he was an awful player.
In truth the English defender is an average player with decent defending qualities but his attacking threat has near disappeared.
Williams, at least at the moment, has so much more to offer and has endeared fans with his tenacious and brave displays so far.
According to the Express, Solskjaer has doubts over Shaw’s injury record and his ability to carry out instructions physically with a move out of the club possible in the summer.
The 24 year old has suffered numerous injuries during his time at Old Trafford and that has slowly turned him into an unreliable player.
If he can’t make consistent appearances in the first-team then it doesn’t make sense to consider him as anything more than a squad player.
At the moment it also doesn’t make sense to move him on either as Williams can be the first-choice with Shaw providing cover unless Solskjaer wants to invest in a proven left-back and allow Williams to be the cover.
