Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not sound positive about Manchester United signing a striker following the club’s 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday.
Man United fell to their fourth defeat of the season in another game that highlighted the club’s need for more experience at the masthead of attack.
However, Solskjaer appears to be working under the basis that he must work with the options already at his disposal.
Speaking on the subject of whether United needed more up front in January, Solskjaer said: “But we’ve got loads of players here in the squad who could create more.
“It’s not just look outside [in the transfer market], we have to do with what we have. I thought the front four looked promising but flattered to deceive a little bit today.”
United are, according to reports, looking at both Thomas Muller and Mario Mandzukic ahead of January – two experienced, very good strikers who are looking for the exit door at their respective clubs.
Are the links with United just a consequence of their, and the club’s, current situation, and in fact not based in any fact whatsoever? Only time will tell.
