Manchester United star and Roma loanee Chris Smalling is reportedly a step closer towards sealing a permanent move to his current side.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer allowed the experienced Englishman to move on loan to the Seria A giants in the summer and it’s safe to say the player is enjoying his time there.
Smalling has cemented his place as a key player in Roma’s side due to consistently high performances and so it makes sense he would wish to make his move permanent.
The Italian club’s form has also been good and should they keep it up then qualifying for next season’s edition of the Champions League will be realistic.
Should Solskjaer’s side continue their inconsistencies and lose out on Europe all together then that will hand the former Fulham man even more incentive to leave.
According to Sport Witness, Sky Italia report Smalling’s agent travelled to Roma on Monday in an attempt to wrap up a permanent transfer as he has become a key player for Paulo Fonseca.
With Phil Jones performing horribly vs Sheffield United in the weekend, many fans felt the wrong Englishman departed the club.
Even when Smalling’s transfer was completed supporters were initially confused as to why he left before the former Blackburn Rovers man.
